14 Months

Our Laney turned 14 months a few days ago.  I started thinking about all the things she is doing and learning right now and decided I should document this fun time with a blog post.

Temper tantrums are already starting to show up . . .

She sucks her thumb when she is tired or hungry.

Sitting on things like the fire place (or even a basket of books) is very fun - she tries to make anything that's low enough into a bench.  When she does sit down on something she claps with pride.

She LOVES books, in fact she probably "reads" and plays with books more than anything else.

She has started climbing on things and seems to have no concept of gravity.  Yikes!

  • She is walking very well.  She has gotten used to walking in grass, the first time I put her in it in our front yard she cried.  Hills, even slight ones, still prove to be a bit of a challenge though.
  • She tries to reach for the door knobs but can't quite get there yet.
  • Seems to love the water so far, she gets more brave every time we go to the pool.
  • Words: baby, dog, duck, uh oh, ball, Mama, Da Da, done, toe, nose, pretty (pronounced preeeeee), shoe, boo, hey, bye, moo, book, puff, and her favorite phrase is "Oh wee"
  • She is very loving and gives out kisses every now and then.  It melts our hearts when she wraps her sweet arms around our necks and really gives us a hug!
  • Montana (our beagle) is one of Laney's favorite "toys" right now.  I'm very thankful for her patience with Laney.
  • Her facial expressions are cracking us up lately.  She definitely has lots of personality.  She is not shy, when we go to the pool or any public place she is quick to go up to other kids to say hello.
  • She giggles when I brush her teeth - I love it!
  • She's taking one nap a day, usually 2.5 - 3 hours long, and she sleeps 11 - 12 hours at night.  She's a good eater and loves drinking milk from her sippy cup.

Words cannot describe the joy and love I feel because of this sweet baby girl!
