Well, my sweet girl is now half way through her second year of life. I thought the first year went by fast, but the second one is going by even more quickly. And since that's the case, this blog post is all about Laney at 18 months. I want to be able to look back and remember all the fun things she was doing and liking at this age.
As illustrated in this picture, she LOVES Elmo and pumpkins (which she calls "pum pums").
She frequently goes to our closet and points to the hats and either wants us to put one on or she wants to wear one herself.
She likes to wear our shoes too, and is very proud of herself when she gets them on.
"Tana" and "Bubba" are her buds. She tells them "hi" multiple times a day and really likes to help feed them/play with their bowls.
She is feeding herself now with a spoon and as you can see - it does get quite messy.
This girl is an outside girl! She loves to play outside. She asks me multiple times a day to go "side." She has also learned that Pa (my dad) and G (Kyle's dad) will take her outside every time she asks! Many times while we are outside she will take my hand and say "walk."
It's super sweet.
She also loves to go to the playground. The stairs and the slides are her favorite part.
She is fearless and will go down most slides on her own.
Coloring is probably her most favorite thing to do now. She colors all day long and says "Mama ca (color)" when she wants some company. She enjoys it when we draw things for her and she guesses what they are. We draw things like dogs, cats, trees, pumpkins, flowers, hearts, hats, cows, etc.
She's also got some crazy moves on the dance floor!!!
Other fun facts:
- Her favorite tv show is Sesame Street and she knows most of the characters by name. Her favorites are Abby and Elmo
- She is a very picky eater at this point and prefers gold fish crackers more than anything else.
- All of her front teeth are in and now she is just working on her molars. They seem so big to me!
- She wakes up around 8:30 every morning, takes a nap around 1:00 that lasts usually 2 hours and she goes to bed around 8:30 or 9:00.
- She is communicating with us very well and has learned the names of most of the family.
- Pa, Nonna, G, Mimi, B (Brannon), La La (Lauren), K (Kale), K (Kyle), and Harvey Jane which sounds pretty much like Harvey Jane.
- She likes to help with chores -like putting things in the trash, helping put clothes in the washer and dryer and dusting.
- She knows her body parts. She says the names and points to them when asked.
- She's also a pro at her animal sounds. Especially a tiger growl!
- New words she has learned since my 14 month list: please, truck, water, beach, tree, doll, outside (pronouced "side"), nap (which is what she calls a blanket), Abby, Elmo, cake, spoon, yo (yogurt), gold fish, car, the phrase "see ya", bath, cracker, turtle, bird, thanks, cup, milk, juice, bear, cat, whoa, pumpkin (pum, pum), heart, hat, eye, hair, nose, ear, arm, hand, belly button, leg, slide, pen, color, up, down, hot, walk, socks, flower. There are probably more - but that's what I can think of for now :)
- She is also putting two and three word sentences together. For example: "Milk please,""It's a bear,""Da Da"s shoe,"etc.
- We are working on colors, but for now everything is pink :)
- She has started telling me when her diaper needs to be changed by saying "pee pee" and pointing to her diaper.
- Her favorite stuffed animals are Abby, baby doll, and brown bear.
It is such fun to see the world anew in this sweet girl's eyes.
Thanks for reading.
