Christmas Through the Eyes of Laney

Even though this was Laney's second Christmas, it felt like her first.  She understood what was happening a little more this year and she enjoyed all the fun things that go along with it.  I wanted to write some of the things she liked the most and the things she noticed this year, because we will never have another Christmas just like this one.
It sure was fun seeing it through her little one year old eyes.

  • Her favorite thing by far - was our nativity scenes.  We have three, but her favorite was the one that Kyle's grandmother made for him when he was little.  It was perfect for her because it is plush and can't be broken :)  She loved "Mar, Joseph and Baby Jesus" so much that they now live in her room.  She asked "happened Baby Jesus?" when she woke up from her nap and he was gone.  So, her sweet Da Da climbed back up into the attic and got them down.  Who knows how long they will stay with us!  It warmed my heart that her interest was in the thing that is most important to remember at Christmas.
  • She also loved singing Away In A Manger.  By the time Christmas was over she could sing the whole first line herself and fill in the rest of the words with us.  Check out the video below:
  • The Christmas tree always needed to be watered and the ornaments were always fun to look at and name.  She was very good about just looking and if she did touch the ornaments she was very careful to put it back where it goes.  She would say "back go"
  • She was very interested in the stockings hanging on the fireplace and even learned which stocking belonged to each family member.  She didn't have a clue that there would be toys and goodies in them on Christmas day!
  • She had several favorite books this Christmas also: Biscuit's Christmas Eve and Mary's Happy Christmas Day.  We read them over and over and over.
  • She really enjoyed all of the Christmas cards we received.  Especially the photo cards that had her friends pictures on them.
  • She did a good job of tearing paper and opening gifts this year.  And like most kids, wanted the toy opened and taken out of the box immediately.
I had too many pictures to pick from so, instead of laboring over which ones to use - I just made a slide show!

I hope you enjoy our pictures and I hope you and your's had a very Merry Christmas!
